Ontologies for Decision Support and Automation
Semantic decision support toolsets were developed to support deadline-driven, reasoned decisions. The ontologies were developed and evaluated for use in production, end of life and sensor requirements scenarios. The ontologies were mapped to the BFO (Basic Formal Ontology) upper ontology to offer re-usability and validated in real world scenarios for the capability to remotely deploy and query linked-data. In the published research paper linked below, the profitability decision-making capabilities are demonstrated as proof-of-concept.
Reusable ontologies are required for interoperability to support decision making in complex manufacturing environments across the supply and value chain.
